Thomas R. Hager is a CPA who is uniquely certified to help educate other professionals and to assist individuals and families navigating the Social Security system by earning his certification as a National Social Security professional since May 2013.

Tom was named the National Social Security Association (NSAA) “Advisor of the Year” in 2014 for becoming the organization’s first registered educator and devoting considerable time in his practice to promoting Social Security education and helping clients maximize claiming strategies. Tom is a certified educator with the NSSA and a subject matter expert for the NSSA’s accreditation panel.

He has provided extensive strategic direction to clients navigating the Social Security system, including deciding when to take Social Security, coordinating Social Security benefits with spousal benefits and other sources of retirement income, minimizing taxes on benefits and more.

Tom earned his CPA status in Ohio in 1979 and was managing partner of Schlabig & Associates, Ltd. and principal at Apple Growth Partners.
